65 MFI Members Freed

12 years, 4 months ago

It is with great joy and thankfulness to the Lord that MFI announces the liberation of our 65 members who had previously been detained in Tihar Jail, India for nearly 5 years.

These 65 members came from Pakistan to India on tourist visas to stage a protest against the Pakistani Government on account of the government's anti-MFI policy. They burnt effigies of Pakistani officials and, in a flurry of emotions and passion, they also burnt their Pakistani passports. Subsequently, they were arrested by the Indian police for then being illegal in India. During their detainment, theseMFI members burn their Pakistani passports members requested asylum from the Indian Government due to the fact that upon their return to Pakistan, they would be subjected to the death penalty as they had been declared traitors of Pakistan.

On account of the efforts by the United Nations and cooperation from the Indian Government, our members have not only been freed from jail, but they have also been granted asylum by the American and Canadian Governments! We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to these organisations for their help. It is the grace of His Divine Eminence Ra Riaz Gohar Shahi that our members from Tihar Jail are looking forward to a bright, safe furture where they can practice their faith without fear of persecution!
